IARC AND GICR REGIONAL COURSES:
Courses on cancer survival methods for cancer registries are being offered at IARC and locally within the IARC Regional Hubs. If you have specific questions, please contact the IARC Education and Training Programme at cor@iarc.fr.
FELLOWSHIPS:
Fellowships are available in order to build capacity and contribute to the professional development of cancer investigators from participating SURVCAN-3 registries. Fellows will come to IARC (the coordinating centre of SURVCAN-3) to learn how to check the quality of registry data and complete survival analyses. The call for applications will be released in 2017 and will be announced on this website.
GETTING INVOLVED:
If you are interested in getting involved with the SURVCAN-3 project, or want to undertake analyses using data from SURVCAN-3, please contact the SURVCAN-3 team at survival@iarc.fr. All requests will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis by the SURVCAN-3 team, who may require an applicant to provide further information by submitting a concept proposal or completing a publication policy form.
GICR ACTIVITIES:
IARC is leading global efforts to disseminate the knowledge required to more effectively fight cancer in previously underserved countries. Generating burden indicators suitable for use in deciding how and where to invest resources is fundamental. The Global Initiative for Cancer Registry Development (GICR) has secured the commitment of key international partners to work together in accomplishing this task, and has developed six IARC Regional Hubs for this purpose. The focus of the Hubs is on empowering countries to develop cancer control plans by providing support and sharing knowledge. Key activities in each region include providing locally customized training and tailored support, fostering research, and assisting with advocacy and the development of networks. GICR will be active in 20 low- and middle-income countries by 2020 and in a further 30 by 2025.
Further information on GICR′s workshops, courses, and activities is available at http://gicr.iarc.fr/en/Actions.
